Retrieval of Distributed Entomological Museum Data

This is an experimental application designed to query remote specimen databases, collate the results, and return them to the user. The focal taxon for this effort is the Apoidea (the bees).

Operating Instructions

To start a query, type in the scientific name of a bee into the text box provided below. At this stage, the name typed in must be matched exactly in the remote databases to be queried. Wildcards are not supported generally. If you simply want to try this out, try entering the names Lasioglossum bicingulatum (specimens at KU and Museum Victoria), Ctenocolletes albomarginatus (specimens at Agriculture Western Australia), or Agapostemon nasutus (specimens at Ohio State and KU).

The application can query the holdings of five collections. By default, none are checked. Click in the checkbox of the collection(s) that you want to query. Please visit the web sites of these resources.
